PMI Blood Donation App

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is a national association organization in Indonesia that is engaged in the social and humanitarian field. PMI has been in 34 PMI Region (provincial level) and around 408 PMI Branch (city/district level) throughout Indonesia. Its main task and function is to improve health status through quality blood management, to realize safe, timely, affordable and sustainable blood supply services.

The Importance of Blood Donation Apps

Preparing PMI to enter the era of Industry 4.0 and Big Data for the need for blood in Indonesia that is connected nationally. PMI DKI Jakarta Province as an important part of the Indonesian Red Cross, can be a pilot project for developing a digital and informative national blood supply system.


General Condition

At PMI DKI Jakarta, 800-1000 bags of blood per day of donors enter and are processed into blood components in accordance with CPOB requirements. Various blood components needed by patients can be provided by the UTD PMI DKI Jakarta Province (Packed Red Cell/PRC, Thrombocyte Concentrate/TC, Fresh Frozen Plasma/FFP) to special blood components such as leukodepleted (blood component whose white blood cell count is reduced forreduces transfusion reactions), cryoprecipitate-AHF (blood component containing only clotting factor 8), pooled TC and TC Apheresis. Providing blood donation services and blood services for patients for 24 hours non-stop to 152 hospitals in Jakarta and 229 hospitals outside Jakarta (2018 data).

PMI Jakarta currently also has a website http://myblood.co.id/ which contains information on blood stocks, blood donation schedules and locations, blood production, blood distribution, and blood requests.

VOLUNTEER BLOOD DONOR (DDS), the number of DDS is still not much or only 2-3% in total. Whereas ideally the number of DDS is at least 4% of the total population of an area.


Problems

PMI Corporate Partner Volunteer has not been maximized to manage HR in the company to be able to become a donorBlood information that can only be accessed by PMI and not yet accessible to the public. The need for a more complete database of donors, both personally and in a community / organization / company. So that the need for blood can be supplied from the internal. The number of DDS is still small and below the normal number.

  • Objectives: Help optimize the performance of continuous blood donation at PMI, especially in PMI DKI Jakarta working area

Therefore, an application information technology system (Android, Web, and IoS) is needed for blood donors that can help PMI service performance.
